ANKARA: Pakistan Pakistan Navy will send its PNS Alamgir ship to Aksaz Naval Base in Marmaris from November 19 to December 1 to participate in joint Turkish Navy Exercise “Mavi Balina-16”.
The vessel, a multi-mission frigate, will visit Aksaz Naval Base Marmaris. It was commissioned on August 31, 2010 at Mayport in Florida as the third of its name and is part of 25th Destroyer Squadron of Pakistan Navy.
Mavi Balina is evolving into a common forum for both Western and Eastern nations to share, discuss and propose solutions for collaborative maritime security, one of the critical contemporary maritime challenges. PNS Alamgir’s participation in this exercise will further strengthen the existing bilateral relations of Pakistan Navy with the Turkish Navy and other participating navies.
Reciprocatory visits of high-level defence delegations, exchange of training programmes and visits of naval units is a regular feature of Turkey-Pakistan defence relations. The navy is also planning to organise the fifth multinational exercise, Aman-17, in February 2017 where more than 30 navies are expected to participate.
The force is actively involved in maintaining peace and stability in the region, with ships operating and participating in all peacekeeping missions. The Pakistan Navy joined the Coalition Maritime Campaign Plan (CMCP) in 2003 and has commanded the Coalition Task Force-159.
