KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has barred secretaries, director generals and project heads from taking unnecessary holidays while quoting Quaid-e-AzamMuhammad Ali Jinnah’s piece of advice, “work, work and work.”
He was chairing a session of secretaries of different departments in Sindh Secretariat on Thursday.He was briefed on the development projects and schemes that were underway in different parts of the province.
While addressing the participants, he said that the government would not tolerate below-standard work in any subordinate department. He said that all the promotions and transfers would be made on merit. He warned the departments that if progress is not up to the mark, strict action would be taken.
The chief secretary was resented in matter involving 60 missing government vehicles and he was ordered by the chief minister to take steps to recover the vehicles. While going from home to the secretariat, CM Murad saw dirty water poodles near the Arts Council and immediately directed for their removal from the road.
He made it clear that he would issue instructions for once and if no action was taken, then officials responsible would be taken to task.
