ISLAMABAD – Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs Senator Ishaq Dar here on Tuesday chaired a meeting to review the process of reforms for the development of power sector in the country.
The Water and Power secretary shared with the meeting a brief on the measures sought for the reforms process envisaging to remove impediments in the development and growth of the power sector.
The measures particularly aim to bring cohesion between the policy (generation, transmission, distribution) and regulatory regimes in the power sector to facilitate its overall betterment, the meeting was informed.
On the occasion, the minister passed instructions for a detailed review of the proposals put forth by the Ministry of Water and Power by all the stakeholders. He welcomed inputs for improvement in these proposals and said a consolidated report in this regard, reflecting on all legal, financial and administrative aspects of the proposed reformatory measures be submitted to him for further consideration.
The minister said that it was resolve and endeavour of the government to overcome the problem of power shortage in the country and all efforts would be made to achieve this objective. Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Law, Ashtar Ausaf, SAPM on HRD, Barrister Zafarullah, senior officials of the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Water and Power attended the meeting.
