LAHORE: The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 in Lahore, banning sectarian and faith-related debates as well as speeches for 30 days.
According to a notification issued by the government of Punjab, the ban will come into effect and will remain valid until November 9.
The notification reads that no person will be allowed to exchange views or opinion in public gatherings regarding Khatm-e-Nabuwwat (finality of prophethood) or any other sensitive matter related to religion.
Section 144 will also be applicable on religious scholars and clerics. Such broadcasts and publications carrying such content will also be banned.
In case of non-compliance with the direction, the notification warned, strict legal actions will be taken.
